1. Introduction

Welcome to Race Challenges ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our website and social platform. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your information.

2. Information We Collect

To provide you with the best Caribbean adventure experience, we may collect:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and profile details when you register.
  • Activity Data: Route data, check-ins, and performance metrics from challenges you participate in.
  • Payment Information: Transaction details processed securely through our partners (e.g., WiPay). We do not store full credit card details on our servers.
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and device information to improve our services.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Operate and maintain the Race Challenges platform.
  • Process entries and maintain challenge leaderboards.
  • Communicate about your account, challenges, and support requests.
  • Analyze platform performance for improvements and security.

4. Data Security & Protection

We implement robust industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL/TLS) technology. Sensitive data in our database is also encrypted at rest.
  • Access Control: Access to your personal data is strictly limited to authorized personnel who need the information to perform their duties.
  • Monitoring: We regularly monitor our systems for potential vulnerabilities and attacks to ensure your data remains secure.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services such as Google OAuth for authentication, mapping and routing services for location features, and payment processors for transactions. These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

6. Google User Data

Our platform uses Google OAuth for secure user authentication and account creation. We are transparent about the data we request and how it is used.

  • Data Collection: We access your basic Google profile information (email address and name) and your profile picture. We do not access your contacts, calendar, or other sensitive Google data.
  • Purpose of Use: This data is used solely to provide and improve user-facing features, such as creating your account, personalizing your dashboard, and sending important challenge-related notifications. We do not use this data for training AI models or for any purposes unrelated to platform functionality.
  • Storage: Your email and name are stored securely in our encrypted database. We do not store your Google password.
  • Sharing & Transfers: We do not sell your Google user data to third parties. We do not transfer or disclose your Google information to third parties for purposes other than platform operation (e.g., authentication) or as required by law. We do not use Google user data for targeted advertising.

Race Challenges' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services.

  • Retention: We store your data for a period consistent with our business purposes and to comply with legal obligations.
  • Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through your dashboard settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon request, we will delete or anonymize your data from our active databases within 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

Race Challenges does not allow children under the age of 12 to participate in any capacity. For children aged 12–17, participation is only permitted when a parent or legal guardian registers the child through their own verified adult account using the "My Family" feature.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. All child data is managed exclusively through the parent or guardian's account and is never independently accessible.

9. Data Minimization for Minors

For Minor Participants (ages 12–17), we collect only the minimum data necessary for challenge participation:

  • First and Last Name: For identification and leaderboard display (last name is never shown publicly).
  • Date of Birth: To verify age eligibility and assign the correct age category.
  • Sex: For sex-specific leaderboard rankings.
  • Activity Data: Challenge progress and performance metrics.

We do not use children's data for marketing, advertising, or profiling purposes. Minor Participant data is never sold or shared with third parties beyond what is strictly necessary for platform operation.

10. Parental Rights

Parents and legal guardians have the following rights regarding their Minor Participant's data:

  • Access: View all data collected about your child through the My Family dashboard tab.
  • Correction: Edit your child's name and sex at any time.
  • Deletion: Remove your child's profile and all associated data (subject to no active challenge enrollments).
